Rogers County ABATE toy run open to the public
CLAREMORE, Okla. – Santa comes in the form of motorcycle enthusiasts as the 9th annual Rogers County American Bikers Aimed Toward Education toy run returns to Cherokee Casino Will Rogers Downs on Nov. 21. The donated toys will be given to Toys for Tots, which distributes toys to children in need across the country.
More than 400 people from across Oklahoma are expected to participate and donate toys.
“The Rogers County ABATE toy run is a tremendous local event that we’re very proud to host,” said Cherokee Nation Entertainment CEO, David Stewart. “It’s a chance to give to our local children this holiday and to have a bit of fun in the process.”
Lineup for the toy run begins at 10 a.m. at the Claremore Expo Center and will end at noon at Will Rogers Downs, where participants will receive a free lunch. After the run, participants will have a chance to win door prizes, including three brand-new leather jackets.
Those not participating in the run but still wishing to donate can bring their toys to Will Rogers Downs any time between now and Nov. 21.
Last year, more than 300 toys were donated for the Toys for Tots program.
“We started this last year with the casino, and it’s really brought this toy run around,” said John Seago, president of the Rogers County ABATE. “The facility there at Will Rogers Downs has really made it great for the kids, and we’ve received some great involvement from the casino staff. It’s just a great situation for us.”
The event is expected to draw hundreds of motorcyclists, but any vehicle of any kind is encouraged to be a part of the journey.
Cherokee Casino Will Rogers Downs is located three miles east of Claremore on Highway 20. For more information, visit www.cherokeestarrewards.com or call (918) 283-8800.
