Cherokee Casino Ramona serving food from ‘The Grill’
RAMONA, Okla. – Cherokee Casino Ramona has been open two weeks and it’s already becoming known for being more than a gaming destination.
Since the casino doors opened on May 28, the gaming center’s café, The Grill, has been a popular spot for locals and daily commuters traveling US Highway 75. The eatery’s menu features a plethora of dining options at a great value with a price range of $3.25 to $8.50.
“Throughout the planning process we always believed the dining could be a huge draw for us, mainly because of the location right off the highway,” said David Stewart, CEO of Cherokee Nation Entertainment, which operates Cherokee Casinos and Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Tulsa. “Our food and beverage staff and property management team did a great job determining the right menu and price points, and we’re already receiving positive feedback from those who have visited The Grill.”
One of the biggest reasons for the success is a 24/7 breakfast menu that features a two-egg meal, ham and cheese omelet, steak and eggs, biscuits and gravy, and french toast.
“It’s been really busy. It gets busy at breakfast, and we haven’t had a slow lunch yet,” said Lenora Westmoland, a food and beverage associate at Cherokee Casino Ramona. “Our most popular food choices are the breakfast items. I serve those all day long.”
For those looking for a larger portioned, stomach-filling meal, the menu features chicken fried steak and a 9-oz. marinated grilled sirloin.
During lunch hours, Westmoland said a popular choice is the “Build It” menu, which allows diners to customize a sandwich in numerous ways. A 6-inch sandwich is $4.75 and a 12-inch is $6. Chips are served with the sandwich.
After choosing white or wheat bread, the next option is cheese: Provolone, Swiss, American or pepper jack. Meats include turkey, ham, corned beef and roast beef. The vegetable options are shredded lettuce, green peppers, onions, jalapenos, tomatoes, banana peppers, black olives, pickles, sauerkraut and avocado.
The Grill’s menu also includes burgers and a 1/4-pound Nathan’s hot dog. Sandwich options include grilled chicken, reuben and grilled cheese sandwiches. All sandwiches and burgers are served with a choice of french fries or chips.
For those wanting to grab a snack, the restaurant serves chicken fingers and chili cheese fries.
Westmoland said she transferred from Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Tulsa because the Ramona gaming center is much closer to her Skiatook home. In the short amount of time she’s worked in the new facility, Westmoland said she’s already seen a lot of familiar faces.
“Some of them have known me a long time, but usually when they visit with me it’s because they’re waiting on food,” Westmoland said.
